Albert Park is centrally located in Auckland's Central Business District. Midday attracts the workers and students from the nearby university to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and to enjoy a relaxing lunch in this tranquil and beuatifully landscaped park.
The history and design of the park has made it an important place for both Aucklanders and tourists to seek out.
In the centre of the park is an elaborate Victorian fountain that has been a prominent feature since the early days of the park's creation. A Queen Victoria statue stands close by and was unveiled in 1899 to celebrate the 60th year of her reign.
Situated right next to the park is Auckland Art Gallery which is home to one of the country's largest and most renowned collections of local and international artists. Opened in the 1880s, the gallery offers visitors a chance to see more than 15,000 pieces in the gallery's collection.
